Weekend Events Guide: Berlin Markets, Films and Live Sets This July

Berlin hosts multiple outdoor markets and evening screenings this weekend, with events concentrated in Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain on July 11 and 12.

Clear skies and temperatures near 24 degrees have shifted focus back to street-level activities after several weekends of scattered showers that kept many residents indoors. City tourism figures show a 12 percent rise in local event bookings since early June compared with the same period last year.

Organisers at Kollwitzplatz in Prenzlauer Berg open the weekly farmers market at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with stalls offering seasonal berries and cheeses from Brandenburg producers. At the same time, the Boxhagener Platz market in Friedrichshain runs from 10 a.m. both days, adding a vintage clothing section run by the local initiative Flohmarkt Friedrichshain.

Outdoor screenings and evening music

Tempelhofer Feld opens its free open-air cinema at 8 p.m. on both nights, screening two German-language features with English subtitles. The program is run by the nonprofit group Open Air Kino Berlin, which reported 4,800 attendees across its June dates. Entry costs 8 euros per person, with advance tickets available through the group's website.

Live music starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday inside Volkspark Friedrichshain, where the annual Sommerbühne series features three local bands on the main stage. The event is supported by the district cultural office and charges no admission fee, though food vendors on site sell meals starting at 6 euros.

Getting there and planning ahead

Visitors can reach Kollwitzplatz via the U2 line at Senefelderplatz station and Boxhagener Platz via the U5 at Samariterstrasse. Arrive before 10 a.m. at the markets to avoid peak crowds, and reserve cinema seats online to guarantee entry at Tempelhofer Feld. Public transport runs until 1 a.m. on both nights, with additional night buses serving the eastern districts.
