Berlin's Clubs and Bars Draw Crowds Despite Rising Venue Costs

Berlin stages around 58,000 club events each year, anchored by long-running venues such as Berghain, Tresor and KitKat that regularly run parties from Friday into Monday.

The volume of events matters now because the scene operates under tighter rules and higher operating costs that have already closed some rooms and pushed others to raise prices. City records show the pressure comes from rent increases and licensing changes, even after techno received UNESCO recognition in 2024.

East-side districts and established rooms

Nightlife stays concentrated in the east. Friedrichshain keeps a boho feel with lower-key bars and clubs, while Mitte and Schöneberg host the more polished cocktail spots.
